Responsibilities:

J ob Function:

Works in the Dry End of the facility in the oven outfeed area to ensure that cartons are picked up at the run-out stackers and given to the hotpress operators to be fed in before the shower cabinet to increase production and reduce broke. Maintains excellent housekeeping standards between the oven run-out area and the hotpresses. Must have knowledge of the Dry End and be able to run the floatline and hotpress, perform the Wrapper duties, and have a forklift license.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Follow all documented procedures for the position to include JSAs and forklift procedures.
• Attend to oven jams immediately to prevent carton backups and fires.
• Gather cartons from the run-out stacker and give to hotpress operators to feed in.
• Ensure excellent housekeeping standards to maintain a safe work area.
• Be present for machine startups to watch for fire.
• Empty broke hoppers as required using a forklift.
• Empty trash cans as required.
• Clean underneath oven screens and run-out stackers when machines are down.
• Immediately address grease or oil on the floor.
• Give the Wrapper a break as required.
• May give other Dry End Operators a break as required.
• Maintains solid communication with other operators and plant supervision.
• Informs NTL or Team Leader of any problems in the area. Back fills Material Handler position.
• Replaces fire extinguishers after use.
• Demonstrated self-compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Ensures excellent housekeeping standards to maintain a safe work area.
• Maintain safety record to conform to plant goals.
• Maintain attendance record to confirm to plant attendance goals
• Ensures a smooth transition at shift change.
• Immediately addresses safety issues or hazards.
• Follows established break schedule.
• Works overtime as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Candidate Requirements:

• Must be physically able to perform the essential job duties:
  Stand approximately 10 hours per shift, lift 26 - 36 pounds on a frequent basis, and work in a hot/cold environment.
• Must be able to work a rotating 12-hour schedule.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include weekends, holidays and overtime.

Experience:

Preferred:

• 90 days as a Floater, Wrapper or Hotpress Operator.
• Two years of experience in a manufacturing environment; including successful completion of jobs or similar activities requiring control of a mechanical process and inspection of product to meet quality standards.

Skills:

• Ability to work in a self-directed position.
• Ability to work safely and to communicate with others in a professional manner.
• Demonstrated ability sufficient to determine product quality, for example, carton malformations, color verification, and structural integrity.
• Demonstrated hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient for product handling.
• Ability to work in an industrial environment with rotating shifts.

The Macon plant was built in 1967. It manufactures egg cartons, lunch trays, and shake trays. The Macon plant has approximately 218 employees. Macon was awarded World-Class Safety in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. Macon also received the Operational Performance Plant of the year in 2015 and 2016 and Food Plant of the Year in 2016. The Macon plant has recently reached out to the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank and will be collecting canned and dried goods for the less fortunate.
