Your Impact:


When it comes to environmental consulting, we’re focused on advancing our clients’ environmental stewardship and sustainability initiatives. We’re seeking an Environmental Planner to provide senior technical and strategic support for infrastructure projects. A focus of the role will be serving as the sr. technical lead responsible for addressing the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). You’ll apply your technical experience in environmental planning and permitting to develop an environmental compliance strategy. Your leadership will be key to realizing safer infrastructure operations, healthier communities, and protection of our world’s natural resources.

Based out of any of our US offices (preferred locations are Denver, Atlanta and Tampa) with the flexibility to work from home, you’ll touch multiple projects, form technical delivery strategies to meet client goals, and support the growth of our environmental planning business by contributing to pursuits. You will also be responsible for mentoring to enable career growth and efficient and effective delivery of project work. As an Environmental Planner, you’ll lead environmental permitting and related efforts to support project development and be responsible for meeting client objectives and project-specific internal financial goals. Your analytical and writing skills will be called upon as you lead development of quality client deliverables. Your project management or task leadership will include permit strategy and impact avoidance and minimization, permit applications, client communication, technical memos, and environmental compliance documents. You’ll provide motivation and direction to project teams while you in turn are partnered with experience project delivery and technical leaders and mentors to facilitate your project and career priorities. Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Urban, Regional or Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Natural Resources or other related technical area
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team to direct the preparation and provide review of environmental documentation for US federal agencies and commercial sector clients.
  • Experience and interest in technical mentoring
  • Experience leading the development of Environmental Assessments and supporting Environmental Impact Statements
  • Deep understanding of US federal environmental requirements, including the Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act and Environmental Justice considerations.
  • Experience and understanding of public engagement requirements and techniques for controversial projects
  • NEPA and environmental planning as a career focus
  • Professional environmental permitting project experience, including at the task manager or project manager level (managing contract budgets, schedules and scope.)
  • Specific training, knowledge, and experience necessary to develop, review, and coordinate NEPA documents.
  • Ability to charter and lead a project or task team with a focus on client service and internal delivery goals.

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • Master’s degree in environmental science, environmental planning, natural resources or other related technical degree
  • Experience with the environmental consulting industry managing federal agency projects
